The digital games market can be considered a High Velocity Environment, in which demand, competition and technology are constantly changing. We will investigate possible futures of the digital games market using multi-agent simulation, focussed on rapid response models, where interventions in a high velocity environment may be tested. The principal research questions we will address are:
- What possible future scenarios need to be considered for the UK and international games industry, to mitigate risks and exploit opportunities?
- How would the digital games market be impacted by and respond to a range of plausible future scenarios? What is the sensitivity of key measures to these impacts?
- What is the ideal policy framework for the UK digital games industry? What is the impact of policy initiatives such as tax breaks?
